Below is a list of the major places we will visit during year eleven of our voyage.
France: The Brittany Coast
Camaret, Audeirne, Loctudy, Lorient, Lamor-Baden, Le Croisic, Saint-Giles-Croix-de-Vie, La Rochelle.
Having returned from the US, we put S/V Lynx back in the water at L'Aber Vrac'h, and then head toward the dangerous Iroise Sea. We turn south and make our way through the Chenal du Four with its six lighthouses. We stop in Brest (Camaret) before heading south through the treacherous Raz de Sein. Once through this difficult passage, we sail southeast down the Brittany Coast, making many stops on our way to La Rochelle.
France and Spain
France: Capbreton, Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Spain: San Sabastian, Getxo, Gijon, Ribadeo, Viveiro.
From La Rochell, we sail south down the coast at the eastern shores of the Bay of Biscay, arriving in our final port of France. Then we cross into Spain, and turn west, traveling along their northern shore toward A Coruna.
A Coruna, Camarinas, Vigo.
After departing from Viveiro, we arrive in A Coruna, then wait for a weather window to go around the point, eventually arriving in Vigo.
Caminha, Porto, Figueira da Foz, Peniche, Caasais, Sines, Sagres, Faro.
We now sail down the Portugal coastline, making several stops before reaching Faro, our departure point from Portugal.
Cadiz, Algeciras, El Varadero, Carboneras, Almeria, Cartagena, Alicante, Ibiza, Port d' Andraitx, Sant Carles de la Rapita, Bacelona.
We cross into southern Spain, and now make use of the Bilateral Treaty between the U.S. and Spain, allowing us to extend our time in the Spain past the Schengen rules of 90 days out of 180. As long as we depart from Spain to any country outside of the Schengen, we get an extra 90 days. In our case, once we reach Barcelona, we will fly out to the U.S. You may read about Bilateral Treaties by clicking the link below.
