If we purchase the boat somewhere in the Caribbean (likely in the BVIs) we will make our way northwest to Florida.
Lower USA East Coast
Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina.
We work out way up the Gulf Stream to Cape Hatteras.
Upper USA East Coast
North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York.
Continuing up the coast, we make our way to Washington DC, then through the Chesapeake, and on up to New York City.
Erie Canal and Lake Erie
New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan.
Leaving New York City, we move up the Hudson River, where we take down our mast and then head into the Erie Canal. At Buffalo, we put our mast back up and then sail into Lake Erie, headed toward Detroit, Michigan.
The Great Lakes
Michigan, Ontario (Canada), Wisconsin, Illinois.
Leaving Lake Erie, we head into Lake Huron and then sail all the way around to the end of Lake Michigan. On reaching Chicago, we have the mast taken down again for the upcoming central rivers of the USA.
We motor down the Illinois River to the Mississippi River, we take the Ohio River to the Tennessee River. After passing through Lake Barkley, we take the Cumberland River to Nashville. Reversing course, we head back and take the the Kentucky Lake to the Tennessee River. Then we take Yellow Creek to Mackeys Creek to Bay Springs Lake. From there, we the Tombigbee River to the Mobile River, then on to the Gulf.
Gulf and Florida Keys
Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Keys.
Once we reach Mobile, we put the mast back up, then head over to New Orleans. From there, we reverse course and head east to the panhandle of Florida. We head across a short hop on the Gulf to Tampa Bay, then work out way to the Florida Keys. We then sail east up the keys and end up finishing the Great Loop trip in the United States.
