West Coast of US and Mexico

California, USA to Baja, Mexico

Since we are building our boat in Southern California we will make our way south down the outside of the Baja Peninsula all the way to Cabo San Lucas, then travel up into the Sea of Cortez for some diving, before turning to Puerto Vallarta, our launching point to start out South Pacific Voyage.

Marquesas Islands

Hiva Oa, Nuku Hiva, Ua Pu, Tahuata, Fatu Hiva

After a 15-18 day crossing from Mexico, across the equator, to the Marquesas, we make landfall at Atuona, on Hiva Oa. Then we work our way around the Marquesas Islands before finally departing from Hanavave, headed for the Tuamotu Atolls.

Tuamotu Atolls (Central)

Raroia, Taenga, Katiu, Fakarava (S), Fakarava (N)

After arriving at the first atoll, Raroia Atoll, we work our way west towards, the Society Islands, but stop along the way at Taenga Atoll, Katiu Atoll, then Fakarava south, then sail up the lagoon to Fakarava north Atoll.

Society Islands (East)

Tahiti, Moorea

We arrive in the Society Islands in Papeete to reporvision before moving to Taina for a few days. Then we head west to Moorea for a long stay at several anchorages, Te'avaro, Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay.

Society Islands (West)

Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a, Bora Bora, Maupiti

Continuing west, we stop at Huahine at the Fareeru anchorage, then sail to Raiatea at the Opoa anchorage, then sail north in the lagoon to Taha'a at the Poutoru anchorage, before heading further west to Bora Bora, and the Matire Beach anchorage. (We will likely add other anchorages to all of these islands). Then we reverse course and visit all these islands again, this time east back to Papeete.

Society Islands

Tahiti

We once again reach Papeete and reprovision for our trip back to the Tuamotu Atolls.

Tuamotu Atolls

Makatea Island, Tikehau atoll, Rangiroa, Arutua, Toau, Raraka, Makemo (W) and (E).

We sail east, heading back to the Tuamotus, this time heading southeast, making stops at Tikehau, Rangiroa, Arutua, Toau, Raraka, Makemo (W) and (E) atolls.

Tuamotu Atolls (South)

Hao and Nukutavake Atolls.

Continuing southeast we make our final lagoon stop in Hao atoll, then go past Nukutavake, with a possible stop if the weather is calm anchoring offshore. If not, we head on southeast toward the Gambier Islands

Gambier Islands

Marutea Atoll, Mangareva Island

With a possible stop at Marutea Atoll we are making our way to Mangareva for a two week stay before sailing west toward the Austral Islands.

Austral Islands

Rapa Iti, Raivavae, Tubuai

Our next stop is Rapa Iti to start our tour of the Austral Islands. We spend a couple weeks here before sailing north to Raivavae Island for a week, then on northwest to Tubuai, for another week before heading north to the Society Islands.

Society Islands

Tahiti

Just a reprovisioning stop on our way back to the Tuamotu Atolls.

Tuamotu Atolls (North)

Rapa Iti, Raivavae, Tubuai

For our third visit to the Tuamotu Atolls this year, we again go by Makatea Island, then stop at Tikehau atoll, Rangiroa, and end at Apataki Atoll, (N & S).
