We had two plans this week, if the sun was shining, work inside the salon on the mullions, if we got an overcast day, attack the big job of fairing the top deck... we got both! So we got to work!
Weather changed again... so we did too! We got to work on the Top Deck, fixing the water catchment system and sanded for fairing... then the weather switched again, so we changed course, again!
We set out to add the support mullions to the salon windows but then we ran into an issue when we tried to put in the vent tubes. So we switched gears and made a new plan, then got to work getting it done!
It's time to finish cutting out all the salon windows to reveal our panoramic view for seeing the world during our planned double circumnavigation voyage, hopefully starting in 2026!
It was time to tackle the front windows in the salon, so we worked on the side window baseboards, then got to the scary job of cutting giant holes in our boat! But, all's well that ends well!
This week it was time for a Big Crew Saturday job laminating the cabin top. We also got a lot of work done on the side window epoxy ropes, and started work on finishing the day bed in the cockpit.
This week we tackled a large problem with our window cutouts and got past that with a new solution using a jig and some forms. We also worked on finishing up the last of the cockpit sole.
S/V Lynx needs strong supports for our nice large windows in the salon, so this week we worked on adding epoxy rope to the edges and started cutting and gluing the mullions together.

Now that we are held up by the window alignment issue and waiting on responses from Goiot and Schionning, we decided to stop work in that area and get to work on the Cockpit rear bench and ceiling.
We discovered a problem! We were test fitting the acrylic windows and found out something is wrong! But, we got lots of other work done on S/V Lynx this week, so it wasn't a complete loss.
Building a boat outdoors comes with some challenges. But, with enough tarps and some other work, we came through the rain and still got a lot of boat work done, including starting to get the cabin top ready to be glued down.
While working on the Cockpit and Interior furniture, we're making a lot of design changes to make the boat more comfortable, safer, faster to build, and to get more use out of spaces.
We're hard at work on the cockpit table bench and stern bench this week. We also take time to dry fit out the Nav Station and make some modifications to that design. Finally, we start kerfing the corners of the stern bench.
We get to work by modeling a 3D version of our bilge and plumbing beneath the head area, then get to work on tabbing in the port deck to the hull side and starting to glue in the Cockpit table seating.
It was a hard week due to the bad wind conditions and major fires in LA! See how we faired in this video, and all the work we got done on the bilge area. We also work on a dagger board and add a new fold up bunk.
It's a new year! 2025 is here, and this week we make a New Year's decision on our salon table, and then built it into the boat! We also do a review of what we accomplished in 2024. So come enjoy the fun!
The goal this week was to get all the sole extensions in so that we can start building the furniture. And, it was Christmas, so we took a couple of days off, but we still made our goal... and S/V Lynx got a Christmas present!
