With the rains finished, we got to work up on the cabin top, painting the mainsail track area and installing the track again. We also got a lot of work done in the hulls on the fluid gauges for all our liquid tanks, gray, black, and diesel.
It was a double storm week, but we kept working anyway, shifting into my garage to work on the rudders and rudder boxes. Once the rain cleared, we assessed the damage and cleaned up the boat. Then we got to work!
We started tackling the cabin top support post installation, and did further work on the bilge tanks. Plus we took a look at the new head wall layout, and decided to make a major change to how it will be built.
We got to work on the western red cedar and G10 mainsail track lower reinforcements, and glassed the first layers over them. We cut out all the hatches and did the edge treatments on the soles that go down in the hulls.
We started the new steps for the sugar scoops, then had to redo some work on the mainsail track to rectify an omission of some reinforcement layers. We also worked on the steering and tank inspection ports.
We continued working on the stern of the boat this week, and along the way, decided to make a custom alteration to the way the steps work. It's a little more work, but we think it will make the boat better!
We started working out the mechanism for the kickup rudders, and progressed work on the sugar scoops for the stern decks. We also got to mounting the Goiot Mainsail track onto the cabin top.
After recovering from the massive rain storm the S/V Lynx crew got to work on building the sugar scoops, with their kick-up rudder mechanisms. They also continued work on the tank lids and the Nav Station.
We started on the difficult bows and the Starboard Sugar Scoop. Then a big rain storm arrived, but we kept working in my garage, making a Kick-up rudder box. We also give our the answer for how much diesel the tanks hold.
It's Christmas week... and Santa brought a massive rain storm. Oh well, we just rolled with the punches and kept working on our dream boat anyway. Plus, Marianne and Phil go over some of our sailing plans.
